Our Story
OUR JOURNEY
“…All the world’s a stage…”
In the epic tale of the Warrick Frank Drama Academy, our fearless leader Warrick Frank takes centre stage! With a passion for all things drama, film, and media, Warrick embarked on a quest to establish our beloved academy in 2012.
Armed with his boundless enthusiasm and a qualification in drama and film techniques, Warrick set off on a thrilling adventure in the performing arts world. He joined a touring theatre company, and from there, his star began to rise.
Warrick’s talent shone brightly as he graced the stages of countless theatres, mesmerized audiences on film and television, enchanted listeners as a radio presenter, and breathed life into characters through his voiceover artistry.
But that’s not all! Warrick’s creative prowess extends beyond the spotlight. He’s a master of many hats – a skilled writer, a visionary producer, and a seasoned director. He knows the ins and outs of the entertainment industry like the back of his hand.
Now, he brings his wealth of experience and expertise to our academy, guiding aspiring artists and performers on their own extraordinary journeys. Warrick Frank is not just a name; it’s a symbol of passion, talent, and dedication to the craft. With Warrick leading the way, the spotlight is yours to conquer!
“There was a need for a drama school to provide students of all ages with not only the technicalities of Drama and performance, but also with the practical experience which proves far greater in an industry such as the arts.”
“It has been a long ride with high highs, low lows, and everything in-between, but my ‘seize the day’ attitude always helped me push through…”
"It's only onward and upward from here on out"
Once upon a time, the Warrick Frank Drama Academy began as a humble extra-curricular activity, aimed at bringing the magic of drama and live performance to people and communities who may not have had much exposure to the arts. Little did we know that this seed would blossom into something beyond our wildest dreams!
Just one year after our grand launch, we expanded to an incredible count of 7 independent centres in the vibrant city of Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal. Our infectious passion for the arts couldn’t be contained, and soon we became an integral part of after-school and extra-mural programmes in both private and public schools. Before we knew it, our curriculum found a special place in the hearts of Montessori schools and pre-primary institutions, becoming an essential part of their drama education.
As we continued to spread our creative wings, we formed valuable connections with esteemed organizations such as ASSITEJ South Africa, a national network organization of artists, educators, and institutions. We also joined forces with The Speech and Drama Association of South Africa, building a strong community dedicated to nurturing talent and promoting excellence in the dramatic arts.
But the adventure doesn’t end there! Our story continues to unfold as we set our sights on the breathtaking landscapes of Cape Town, Western Cape. We’re on a mission to establish independent centres there, bringing our unique blend of drama and creativity to even more eager minds.
